Chapter 3: Derivatives

1.  Derivative of a Function:  This section introduces the concept of a derivative by its definition, notation, and applications in analyzing the graph of a function.

2.  Differentiability:  Here we talk about functions that are differentiable, and those that are not--specifically looking at corners, tangent lines with undefined slopes,

3.  Continuity:  This section includes a discussion of the concept of continuity, including continuous graphs, asymptotes, points of discontinuity and other reasons for discontinuity.  The intermediate value theorem will also be introduced.

4.  Rates of Change and Tangent Lines:  Here we will be talking about average rates of change, the slope of a curve at a point, the equation of a tangent line to a curve, and the equation of a normal line to a curve.
