Classwork for Snow Day February 9, 2015

Hi All,

Sometime before class tomorrow, please complete the following.

1.  Each function listed below is the derivative of some function.  Please identify two different functions that have each derivative.

Example.  f’(x)=0

f(x) could be 3, because the derivative of 3 is 0.

f(x) could be -13, because the derivative of -13 is 0.

Example.  f’(x)=1

f(x) could be x+2, because the derivative of x+2 is 1.

f(x) could be x-5, because the derivative of x-5 is also 1.

a.            b.            c.

note:  you can write “x squared” as x^2 while typing if you need to use an exponent, or π as “pi”.

2.  Watch this video.

3.  Explain how to take the antiderivative of:

4.  Email me your answers to part 1 and 3, please use subject “Snow Day - your name”.  For example, if your name was Oscar the Grouch, you would make the subject “Snow Day - Oscar the Grouch"

5.  Practice this a few times in your notebook using this worksheet - answers are attached.  No need to include this in an email to me.

If you get stuck, here’s some additional help in video form - though this goes further than we do today.
